How does Boris win the gladiator contest?

27 Why doesn't Reg take part in the raid on Pilate's Palace?
Answer: He has a bad back.

John Cleese plays many different characters in the film. He says he originally thought that he would play Brian in the film but was pleased how everything turned out. He was also famous for his performance and writing in "Fawlty Towers". He also appeared in the first two "Harry Potter" films as Nearly Headless Nick.
28 Complete this Reg quote: "I'm not oppressing you Stan you haven't got a womb. Where's the foetus gonna gestate? You gonna keep it in..."
Answer: A box

Stan decides he wants to be a woman (called Loretta) because he wants to have babies. They decide to fight for his right to have babies. "It's symbolic of our struggle against oppression." "Symbolic of his struggle against reality."
29 "If you wanna join ___ you've gotta really hate the Romans!"
Answer: the PFJ

Brian replies, "I do!" Cleese responds, "Oh, yeah? How much?" Brian says, "a lot." Finally Cleese adds, "...Right, you're in."
30 What (in English) does the graffiti that Brian must write out a hundred times on the walls of the palace mean?
Answer: Romans go home

I have never noticed this but according to my Latin teacher there is a mistake in the grammatical correction that the centurion tells Brian.
31 Who did Brian's mother say was his father?
Answer: Nortius Maximus

'He promised me the known world.'
32 As told by the ex-leper, what was Jesus' response when the begger complained that he'd been robbed of his livelihood?
Answer: "There's just no pleasing some people."

After listening to the begger's tale of woe, Brian drops a coin in his cup.
Ex-leper: "Half a denari for me bloody life story?"
Brian: "There's just no pleasing some people."
Ex-leper: "That's just what Jesus said."
Three of the four Gospels tell of Jesus curing leprosy (Matthew 8:1-4, Mark 1:40-45 and Luke 5:12-16). I must admit that each time I hear any of these scriptures read in church, I have to fight against the urge to giggle at the thought of the Son of God being seen as a "bloody do-gooder."
33 During Jesus' peaceful speech a melee occurs between two of the spectators, one played by Michael Palin and the other by Eric Idle. The Idle character taunts the Palin character by repeatedly referring to which of his body parts?
Answer: Nose

The Eric Idle character, aka 'Mr. Cheeky', becomes annoyed by 'Mr. Big Nose' (Michael Palin) and his wife. Like Brian's mother, they can't hear what Jesus is saying, mistaking the word peacemaker for cheesemaker and meek for Greek. In the end, Mr. Big Nose punches another woman in the face and, sadly, Jesus' message is lost to this section of the crowd.
34 When Brian is trying to escape the Romans, he purchases a beard for 16 shekels. How much did the salesman originally ask him for?

The salesman refused to sell him the beard at first because he wouldn't haggle.

37 When Brian gets imprisoned what was his cellmate jealous of?
Answer: His manacles

He does not seem to be very stable. "Sometimes I hang awake at night dreaming of being spat at in the face." Still he did spend most of his sentence upside down.
38 "But this is ___ towards isn't it boy?!"

Brian is caught writing graffiti by a centurion who asks him what it says. He replies, "People called Romans, they go the house?" Brian responds, "It says 'ROMANS GO HOME'!" The centurion replies, "No it doesn't."
39 Reg was the leader of the ..?
Answer: People's Front of Judea

'Splitters!'
40 Brian is shocked when his mother tells him the truth about his ancestory. The Roman soldier, known to her as Naughtius Maximus, had promised her "the known world" and "as much gold as I (she) could _______."
Answer: eat

I've often wondered just how much gold Mandy actually thought she could eat. Oh well, it makes no difference anyway. We all know what happened after he'd "had his way" with her; "...off, like a rat out of an aqueduct." The anachronistic reference to the "known world" is a line that just cracks me up every time I hear it; brilliant comedy writing!
41 After leaving Jesus' sermon, Brian accompanies his mother to a rather spirited stoning. What is the name of the poor fellow who is to be the victim of this barbaric spectacle?
Answer: Matthias

Matthias, son of Deuteronomy of Gath, to be more specific. Poor Matthias has committed the ultimate sin of saying 'Jehovah'. His precise quote, at dinner with his wife: 'That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah.' A hanging offense, to be sure!
42 Complete the quotes for the next few questions. "Why aren't women allowed to go to ________, Mum?"
Answer: stonings

Brian asks his mother this. His mother responds, "It's written, that's why!" This is before they buy the rocks for the stoning, when his mother put the beard on to disguise herself. The people of Judea didn't take much notice of this, as all the people at the stoning were women wearing beards.
Question Reference: Quiz: Life of Brian.
43 What does the woman carry on her back (the one who can't attend the stoning)?
Answer: A Donkey

Brian and his mom bought two points, two flats, and a packet of gravel from the guy selling the beards in this scene.

45 "...a hook nose, a Red Sea ___ , and proud of it!"
Answer: pedestrian

Brian's mother introducing Brian to the news that his father was a Roman. After the comment above, Brian storms out and she concludes, "Sex, sex, sex, that's all they ever think about..."
46 "Sorry. I thought _____."
Answer: we'd started

Very funny female impressions all round from the "Python" team. (This is said by Eric Idle acting as a woman in the stoning scene.)
47 Who did Stan want to be known as?
Answer: Loretta

'I want the right to have a baby.'
48 What is rather unusual about the crowd mustered together to join in the daily stoning?
Answer: The crowd is made up largely of women

And everyone knows, women are forbidden to participate in stonings, even to this day.

Seriously, though, these women are looking for blood. The local merchants seem well aware that women are illegally joining the official stonings in the village, as they sell fake beards and variously-shaped rocks (pointed ones, flat ones and bags of gravel).
49 "I want him fighting _____ wild animals within a week!"
Answer: rabid

Pilate says this to a centurion guard when he sends another one to gladiator school for laughing at the name of his friend, 'Biggus Dickus'.
